Sorry for the radio silence the past week. This has been crazy, but I have a few big announcements.
New name
First, and probably the most notable news, I have decided to rebrand the blog, rename the setting, and buy an actual domain name. The Märchenweltgrenze is now the Feengrenze, the fey border. You are probably wondering why I bother with the name change; there are a few reasons. First, I am trying to take the setting to the masses; the old name, while unique and mysterious, is too long and not easy for non-german speakers to pronounce; I can barely remember the pronunciation myself.
Second, I am following a naming convention inspired by the “old world,” in Europe and Asia, the names of places can often be translated into a literal description of what they are. For example, Salzberg is a salt mountain in German, Denmark the Danish marches (Mark is a Germanic suffix meaning march), and Dublin translates to Blackpool in Middle Irish. The setting has evolved from being a borderland on some unnamed unthemed world to something a lot more unique, a world situated in a little pocket of space on the very border of the Material Plane and the Feywild, where both planes fight to claim the world. Feengrenze is a more apt description of the world.
I also decided to rename the site The Feengrenze Historia and change the name. When I chose my original name for the site, I never expected that the Märchenweltgrenze would grow so much or that I would come to enjoy writing for it. Initially, my plan in December of 2023 was to finish up the Märchenweltgrenze chronicles storyline in July with a final battle with Fionnuala the Fair, having forged a spear that can kill any archfey dead no matter where they are, and then move on to another idea for a campaign setting. However, the setting has taken on a life of its own in my mind, and truth be told, I like the Feengrenze too much to just leave it by the wayside, especially after that redesign that has been happening behind the scenes to turn it into a thing that can make me some income.
Update on the Liberation of Sliberberg
As of yesterday, the main body of the text is complete. There is a lot of editing in the future; I still need to source a few of the remaining pieces of art, and I am planning on rebalancing some of the encounters once I get my hands on my copy of the new Dungeon Masters Guide, but all that said, the finish line is in sight. What’s more, I have a release window for the book; it will be released on the DMG in the last week of November or the First week of December. I will let you know when the pdf drops.
A sneak peek at what’s in the pipeline
Once the Liberation of Sliberberg drops, I plan to resume writing shorter pieces for both the blog and the DMG. Here is what I am planning for the future.
- Later today I will release a lore short about a new (and terrifying) feature of the Feengrenze.
- Sometime in November, the next SLiberberg story will drop.
- Shortly after the liberation of SLiberberg, I will be releasing a seasonal duology on the dmg with a reworked version of the Clara and the Nutcracker adventure from 2023
- In the new year, I will start work on a series of short adventures for the dmg and blog based on the old folk and fairy tales of Germany and the British Isles, including a few reworked adventures from the blog’s back catalog.
- Also, if the response from the Liberation of Sliberberg is good, I might start working on a sequel; the next season of the campaign started in the Liberation of sliberberg
